Welcome to the documentation (docs) pages for maintenance of APA Louisiana’s website, social media accounts, and e-newsletter. Topics are sorted into the nine categories shown below. This is a work in progress so expect changes and additions, and these instructions supersede any static Word document or similar instruction sheets released previously. This content is maintained by the Chapter PIO.
Content Types
Stylesheet - Theme
Our website is built upon a Drupal stylesheet or theme called "Corporate Clean" by More Than (Just) Themes. Here you will find tips and tricks for customizing the appearance, maintaining the mobile-friendly "responsive" layout, and utilizing special features of the framework - think "coding" tips.
Hosting & CMS
The Chapter website is hosted by GoDaddy using economy Linux shared hosting. Here you will find instructions for managing these services, contact information, a little about the cPanel interface, and an overview of the open source Drupal 7.x content management system upon which this website is built.
Document Management
The Chapter has several methods of managing documents such as PDFs, DOCx, XLSx, PPTx, etc. Some are stored within the website framework using Filedepot, other documents are stored within Google Drive. Long-term backups can be uploaded to an APA FTP server by the Chapter Secretary or PIO.
Brand Guidelines
Both the APA and our Chapter have certain branding, logos, styles, colors and font guidelines that we are expected to follow using APA's Branding Guidelines (2007). Other portions of this section are specific to the appearance of our electronic communications including this website and e-newsletter.
Surveys
This open source online survey platform has been installed on our web host and is available for our use with no quantity or user restrictions. It is similar to commercial solutions like Survey Monkey. Here you will find an overview of the process and sources of additional instruction for administering surveys.
Social Media
e-Newsletter
The Louisiana Chapter uses a basic (no-cost) level MailChimp bulk email account to design and deploy "responsive", mobile-friendly e-newsletters. Here you will find tips for design, content, and layout. Also included are instructions for maintaining the recipient database.
