New Orleans Plan for the 21st Century

The Plan for the 21st Century, commonly referred to as the Master Plan, is a City Charter-mandated planning framework for the core systems that shape New Orleans’ physical, social, environmental, and economic future. The Plan for the 21st Century reflects the values and priorities that emerged through a community participation process and is grounded in information assembled for the first time in one place. In 2010, the Plan was unanimously adopted by both the City Planning Commission and the City Council and was signed by Mayor Mitchell Landrieu.

Louisiana Land Use Toolkit

As outlined in these documents, investing in communities, building more densely where appropriate, revitalizing blighted areas, and transforming brown fields into viable developments all contribute to commercial prosperity. The results benefit those that live in cities and in suburbs. It also leads to preservation of greenspace and quality of life for rural communities. This project was produced by CPEX.

Louisiana Speaks Regional Plan

In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Louisiana Speaks initiative created a sustainable, long-term vision for South Louisiana. The Pattern Book and Planning Toolkit help support the planning and rebuilding process and cultivate an understanding of the role citizens play in rebuilding a safer, stronger and smarter Louisiana. This project was produced by CPEX.

Unified New Orleans Plan

The Unified New Orleans Plan (UNOP) was organized to create a comprehensive plan for the city of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The highly detailed plan addresses the specific actions necessary to facilitate the recovery and rebuilding of New Orleans. The UNOP was established because both the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) require the creation of a recovery plan post all natural disasters, in order to capitalize on both federal and state aid.
